[Oacrao-l] Transfer Clearance Form for Conduct

Good afternoon,

Here is a response from our Student Conduct Office...

Currently, student applicants who indicate on their admission application that they have been suspended or expelled by any other institution of higher education (IHE), due to student code violations, are notified by the Office of Student Conduct, once we are notified by Admissions.

We have them complete a form, submit the required documents, and meet with them to determine risk. Similar to the Felony Review Board process, however, there is no board, but consultation occurs between the OSC, Admissions, Legal Counsel, and the CCWB, in these occasions.

We required it for a few years but this year we have stopped requesting it. Not sure of the rationale behind any of that. I was not a part of that conversation.

Subject: [Oacrao-l] Transfer Clearance Form for Conduct

Happy Monday to all of you out there in OACRAO-Land!

I hope this first day of the school week finds you rested and energized and ready for a great week ahead. I have a question that I'm hoping you all will answer for me.

Does any of your colleges/universities require any type of a Conduct Clearance Form from transfer students who are transferring to your college/university? Specifically, I'm talking about a non-academic report of the student's conduct at their previous school, signed by the Dean of Student's Office, disclosing whether or not the student was suspended, expelled or any other non-academic violation. The form may include the reason for suspension and possibly a question asking if they were eligible to return to your institution. Of course this does require that the student sign off on the form giving permission to disclose this information.

We've noticed that some out-of-state schools are requiring this form be filled out before a student can be admitted to their school, so we're just wanting to know if any of our state schools are requiring anything similar as well.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.
