The recently approved Concurrent Enrollment policy is now active for high school students enrolling in Fall 2017 semester courses (high school students who enroll in Summer 2017 semester courses are subject to the old policy). Daniel Archer Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education 655 Research Parkway Oklahoma City, OK 73104 Phone: (405) 225-9142 From: Archer, Daniel Sent: Tuesday, May 30, 2017 10:59 AM To: 'oacrao-l at lists.onenet.net' Subject: Concurrent Enrollment Policy Colleagues, At their May 26, 2017 meeting, the State Regents approved revisions to the Institutional Admission and Retention policy and a new stand-alone Concurrent Enrollment policy. The revisions and the new policy are effective Fall 2017. The State Regents' Institutional Admission and Retention policy establishes minimum curricular requirements, criteria, and standards for admission to State System institutions, as well as standards for retention. As a result of much of the existing concurrent enrollment policy language not fitting within the scope of admissions and retention, the concurrent enrollment language was deleted from the Institutional Admission and Retention policy and inserted it into a new stand-alone Concurrent Enrollment policy. The Concurrent Enrollment policy provides a framework for State System institutions to offer concurrent enrollment to eligible high school juniors and seniors. Overall, the policy specifies concurrent enrollment admission, course placement, and retention criteria; defines the environments and conditions in which concurrent enrollment is offered; details specific standards associated with offering concurrent enrollment; and sets annual reporting requirements. The Concurrent Enrollment policy also includes several changes to the previous concurrent enrollment criteria. Most notably, changes were made to the existing admission and course placement criteria to expand access to concurrent enrollment. Additionally, new off-campus concurrent enrollment standards were established to increase guidance to institutions wishing to offer concurrent enrollment at high schools and other off-campus locations. A summary of the substantive changes to the criteria and a copy of the recently approved Concurrent Enrollment policy are attached. Lastly, additional guidance regarding the Concurrent Enrollment policy will be available after the Council on Instruction approves revisions to the State Regents' Academic Affairs Procedures Handbook. It is anticipated that the revisions will be approved later this summer. Please let me know if you have any questions. Many of our classes are now being video recorded for reference during the semester or future lectures or streamed so that students off-site can partake in the course. Are any of you doing this as well? If so, are you obtaining a release form from the students in the class? Would you be willing to share a copy of said form :)? I have a couple of questions today. 1. Are any of you familiar with Diplomakers.com? When an employer recently called to verify a date of graduation, we discovered that a former student had presented the employer with a fake transcript ordered from Diplomakers.com. From their website: "Whether it is just having that *Fake Degree* hanging on your wall to fool your friends, or you need fake transcripts to get your parent off your back, we are here to help you." 2. When a student returns for a second bachelor's degree, do you award honors? If so, do you base the level of honors on the overall GPA, only on coursework completed after the first degree was awarded, or some other method? Thank you!
