[Oacrao-l] Course Credit for Varsity Athletics

To follow up, we award the credit due to a physical education requirement on our degree sheets.  That is changing and so may the awarding of credit for varsity athletics.  The faculty felt it was senseless for varsity athletes to take two additional credits of physical education when they were already involved in their respective sports.  The faculty recently voted to delete the physical education requirement on our degree sheets.

Good morning.

I have a couple of quick questions about course credit for varsity athletics.  First, does your institution award course credit for students who complete in NCAA or NAIA athletics?  Second, do those courses have syllabi and course descriptions that are listed in your academic catalogs?  Finally, if so, do students earn a letter grade in those courses or is it graded on a P/NP scale?
