OACRAO Colleagues,
I hope you had a good week.
When I spoke at OACRAO earlier this month, I was asked about the high school graduation year that should be used when admitting a student who graduated high school mid-academic year.
I was specifically asked if a December 2017 graduate should be coded as a 2017 or 2018 graduate.
After discussing this issue with our Strategic Planning and Analysis (SPA) department, which oversees data reporting and analysis, it was determined that the actual calendar year in which the student graduated is the correct year. Thus, if the student was a December 2017 graduate, he/she should be coded as a 2017 graduate.
I will create a Q&A in the Academic Affairs Procedures Handbook to address this issue.
Lastly, I was also asked a question about awarding and posting credit based upon licensed practical nurse (LPN) licensure. We are still discussing this internally, so I will provide guidance on this issue in the near future.
Best,
Daniel Archer
