At OCU we only record graduate transfer work that is counting towards their degree. Their advisor is required to submit a petition which specifically outlines which credits are transferring in, (school, department, course number and course name) and which OCU requirement it will be used to satisfy. We do not post any other graduate work.

Subject: [Oacrao-l] Graduate Transfer Credit
Hello All,
I have some questions regarding students with graduate transfer credit.
Currently at Southeastern, we record all graduate credit (good, bad & ugly) if a student comes to us with graduate credit but no degree. If they have a Master's or higher, we only record a degree earned statement unless they want to apply any of that credit towards a second Master's. When that happens, we record ALL their work from the first Master's.
We find that we are spending a lot time recording credit that will never be used towards a Master's at SE and that Financial Aid is then dealing with maximum timeframe issues because of the extra unused graduate transfer credit.
For schools with graduate programs, how do you handle graduate transfer credit?
Do you record all graduate transfer credit even if it is not going to be used?
Or, do you only record the credit that will be specifically applied to a Master's degree plan?
Thanks,
Kristie
