Vice President, Planning and  Enrollment Management 
California State University, East Bay (CSUEB) is  located in the East Bay 
Hills overlooking the San Francisco Bay. A public university founded in 1957,  it 
is noted for its excellence in education as well as its beauty and proximity  
to all major Bay Area cities. It is an active and growing member of the  
23-campus California State University System, with an enrollment of 13,000  
students. Faculty, students, and staff benefit from an increasingly  multicultural 
and multinational environment that is characteristic of urban and  metropolitan 
universities. 
This is a newly developed position  reporting to the President of CSUEB. The 
Vice President, Planning and Enrollment  Management is responsible for the 
development and implementation of the  University’s strategic enrollment plan and 
serves as a liaison to academic and  facilities planning for implementation 
of the master plan, capital budgets,  facilities planning, and space 
management. The Vice President, Planning and  Enrollment Management provides leadership 
for the office of institutional  research, marketing and communications, 
student recruitment, admissions,  registration, records management, financial aid, 
support for student retention,  and support for student data systems. The Vice 
President develops appropriately  vetted policies and procedures that ensure 
quality services to students and  collaborates closely with the Provost, the 
Vice President for Student Affairs,  and the Vice President for Administration 
and Business Affairs to ensure that  the campus provides adequate retention, 
academic intervention, administrative,  and support services for students. The 
Vice President serves as a member of the  President’s senior executive team 
and supervises a staff of approximately  120. 
The successful candidate will  possess a master’s degree and at least seven 
years of progressively responsible  experience in higher education admissions 
and enrollment management. The  successful candidate will also have 
demonstrated excellent leadership skills and  solid awareness of enrollment management 
issues and trends related to achieving  enrollment. Additionally, the successful 
candidate will possess knowledge of  technical issues impacting the delivery 
of enrollment services to prospective  and current students. Also required are 
the ability and experience to create and  implement student-centered programs 
and services, the ability to successfully  develop, interpret, and apply 
policy and regulations in a complex university  setting, and strong communication 
and writing skills. Demonstrated success in  collaborating within all levels 
of the institution and the ability to work  effectively with an ethnically and 
culturally diverse campus community are also  required. The successful 
candidate should have a strong commitment to customer  service and community 
relations, successful experience and orientation toward a  collaborative approach to 
problem resolution, and a willingness to take a  proactive approach to 
improving services through direct personal contact with  students.
