Friends: We are doing some re-structuring of our student financial
services office to offer services to our students in the Tulsa area. We
are adding a student financial services position in Tulsa. This is a
twelve month, full-time position with benefits. Here are the specifics.
We want to fill the position in the very near future, as soon as we find

This is currently a Tulsa-based position. An employee in this position
performs duties which include handling primarily adult and graduate
students' financial information and records while maintaining
confidentiality, assisting in the completion of numerous reports,
maintaining various files, serving as a Student Financial Services
specialist and assisting the Director of Student Financial Services.
Supervision Given/Received
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of
Student Financial Services. Performance reviews are given on an annual
basis. Supervision may be exercised over one or more student employees,
if responsibility may need to include.
Examples of work performed
[Note] Examples are illustrations only. The omission of specific
statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work
is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.
1. Counsels traditional and non-traditional students and parents
with regard to student financial services and financial aid policies,
procedures and programs, depending on the segment of the student body
which the counselor is assign to work. Instructs students concerning
acceptance or declination of aid to enable costs to be paid (all
counseling is the counselor's responsibility unless an excess of demands
are placed upon the counselor at one time.) Knowledge of all aspects of
financial aid and student accounts is required.
2. Assists in determining and building awarding packages based on
the financial aid budget for the program of study that the student is
pursuing.
3. Utilizes student eligibility determined from filing of the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other financial aid
documents and information, and monitors maximum award limits.
4. Updates institutional forms for subsequent award years noting
any federal and/or institutional changes in cooperation with the
director of student financial services or his or her designee.
5. Assists in administering and monitoring all institutional aid
and work programs, and in the explaining of university policies that
exist related to a program.
6. Prepares all financial aid letters for their designated
students by program. Clears all academic transcript or diploma requests
and follows up with students who are not clear due to delinquency,
default, or missing document problems.
7. Tracks all outside scholarships and matching grants from
monitoring the awarding and receiving of the funds (with assistance from
the Business Office's cashiers), tracking thank you letters and
monitoring the verification process of their students.
8. Assists in building Adult and Graduate Studies budgets and
award letters, and other assigned AGS student financial services
responsibilities.
9. Initiates learning, evaluating, recommending and implementing
new policies for OWU related to financial aid for the traditional or
adult or graduate studies programs.
10. Assists in the completion of entrance interviews for all Stafford
loan borrowers, through on-line entrance counseling (as well as exit
counseling).
11. Assist in the preparation of student bills, by making sure aid is
executed in a timely manner, and the explanation of them as student's
request or have questions. It should be noted that the counselor may
not and will not accept any monies in payment of the student's
account-they refer the student to the Business Office cashiers.
12. Assists in the yearly audit.
13. Performs other tasks as assigned.
