Here is an update for this morning from Vicki's cousin...I will let you
know when I hear anything else...
I talked with Steve last night to get a final update. On Wednesday
morning they decided to insert a new PIC line. Her other one had
slipped out and they thought they might not need a new one, but they
are still drawing so much blood, so this will be much easier for them
to get the blood from. They also took her back in and one of her most
favorite people, Tom, who calls himself the master plumber, removed
64oz of fluid off the sack around her right lung. She was somewhat
frightened to have it done again, but Steve said it went well and she
of course, was a trooper.
The kidney doctor came in yesterday and said that he is still unsure of
Vicki's condition. He is not convinced it is TTP, but at this time
they are going to continue doing the plasma exchange and steroids and
use this condition as a working diagnosis. They are sending her kidney
biopsy to Boston for further studies.
The hematologist/oncologist also came in yesterday, and he too says
Vicki's condition is very rare. They are unsure of results of the
bone marrow and they are sending biopsies of that to Rochester for
further studies.
Both are indicating that whatever is going on in her body is so unusual
and t they are wanting to send these biopsies to these ultra
professional pathologists to see if they can come up with a diagnosis.
Vicki is becoming very weary and her emotions are very sensitive.
Steve is trying so hard to be such a trooper himself and he has been
such a good husband and support to Vicki.
I am asking now, that you please spend as much time today in prayer for
Vicki. Her condition is very serious and since she is not presenting
herself as a typical "textbook" condition on page 135 of the book, the
doctors are running out of options. That is why they felt the utmost
need to get these biopsies to these other facilities ASAP. It was
Steve's understanding that the biopsy was being sent courier and left
Tulsa yesterday. Pray that these new pathologists will be able to
diagnose this within a very short time.
Again, please be in prayer for Vicki. At this time, I feel that God is
going to have to intervene in order for these answers to come forth.
