Assistant Director of Financial Aid for Customer Service / Training
Office of Financial Aid - Position # 8188
Wichita State University
WSU invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of
Financial Aid for Customer Service / Training. The Assistant Director
has
the primary responsibility for customer service and staff training and
oversees all client service functions including: outreach activities,
in-house advisor appointments and walk-in traffic, and front desk and
telephone service areas. Also, has direct supervision of three
full-time
classified employees.
Duties include but are not limited to Serves as office Omsbudperson to
students / families seeking financial assistance. Responsible for
gathering
customer feedback on service performance for the office. Will conduct
follow-up with students / families as necessary. Will compile statistics
in
customer service area to assess whether office goals / standards are
being
met. Determines staffing patterns and needs of front desk and telephone
operations. Oversee scheduling of staff in both of these areas. Acts
as
liaison to the Admissions and Orientation Offices. Develops
publications
and presentation materials. Primary contact for activities and events.
Responsible for presentations and workshops, both on and off campus.
Coordinates all internal and external publications for the Office of
Financial Aid, including quarterly newsletter. Counsels with
prospective
and current students and families regarding financial aid issues and
concerns, including application and awarding process, budget issues and
available options to meet their needs. Oversees comprehensive staff
training for new staff and monitors need for on-going training for
existing
staff. Coordinates staff training and monthly staff meetings for
student
employees. Responsible for creation / updating of staff training
manuals..
Responsible for staff training for Banner software and maintance of
Banner
Training Manual. Chair student advisory board for Office of Financial
Aid.
Will assist with packaging / processing of federal student aid as
needed.
Develop professionally by reading and attending professional conferences
and workshops.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree; effective oral and written
communication skills; ability to work collaboratively as a team;
demonstrated commitment to diversity and successful experience working
with
diverse populations; knowledge of federal financial aid policies and
programs; and a commitment to customer service, higher education and
working with students; one year full time work experience at counselor
level or higher in a Title IV federal student aid office.
Preferred Qualifications: Three or more years full time work experience
at
counselor level or higher in a Title IV federal student financial aid
office and experience with Banner computer system.
