SWASFAA Team Chatter has posted a new item, 'Reason #15 to Attend SWASFAA in New Mexico'
Do you like being outdoors? Exploring nature? If so, New Mexico is the state for you!
White Sands, NM
White Sands National Monument is one of the world’s great natural wonders.
Great wave-like dunes of gypsum sand cover 275 square miles of desert creating a truly beautiful scene! Enjoy a Sunset Stroll or take the Lake Lucero Tour to learn about the formation of the sands and the plants and animals that live in the dunes. The night sky is perfect for stargazing, as there is very little light pollution due to the City of Alamogordo’s dark sky ordinance. White Sands National Monument is located about three and a half hours south of Albuquerque near Alamogordo, NM. For more information, please go to:

Carlsbad Caverns, NM
Carlsbad Caverns is one of the oldest and most famous cave systems in the world, containing more than 119 limestone caves. Whether you decide to make reservations for a ranger-guided tour or decide to explore on your own, you will not be disappointed! Make sure to bring a light jacket with you as the temperature hovers at 56F year-round inside the caverns. Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture the stunning landscape you will see. Between the months of April-October, take part in the bat flight program where you can see hundreds of bats exit Carlsbad Caverns in search for a dinner of insects. Bring the whole family for a full day of fun! For more information, please go to:
