As a point of clarification, these are changes for the 2017-18 FAFSA. Our campaign is targeted to the seniors of 2016-17 and the counselors who will be working with them this fall.

Subject: [Oasfaa] OCAP FAFSA Campaign
Greetings OASFAA!
As a follow-up to a question posed on the last day of the OASFAA Conference, I want to take a minute to provide an overview of OCAP's plans for notifying college access providers (including high school counselors) of the upcoming FAFSA changes. This year's timing has been a little tricky since we had 2015-16 seniors that had to wait until January 2016 to submit their FAFSA, but we also needed to start informing counselors of the new changes for 2016-17.
So, beginning last week we started our FAFSA campaign for 2016-17, which includes the following steps.
* April - May
o Postcards (attached) were mailed last week to Oklahoma high school counselors and other college access providers, with the main message being the new October 1 filing date, and that other new "beneficial" changes would be taking place as well. We asked post card recipients to make sure they were signed up to receive our electronic notifications and that more information would continue to be sent over the summer and into the fall.
* June - August
o Electronic notifications will be sent to start layering in the other changes that will take place with the FAFSA (including the use of prior, prior year (PPY) year tax information).
* August - September
o Additional email notifications and a new UCanGo2.org counselor kit, including FAFSA materials, will be mailed. This information will contain more details about the changes.
* September - October
o Counselor workshops will be conducted to provide information and resources.
* October - February
o FAFSA events will be scheduled and hosted by counselors for students and parents.
If you'd like to receive a UCanGo2 Counselor Kit, complete this form<https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/UCG2order> and we'll add you to the mailing list. Also, if you work with any high school counselors who haven't heard about our program and materials, send them our way and we'll make sure they're included also.
Thanks and have a great day!
