FINANCIAL AID COUNSELOR is now open for application in Financial Aid Services.
Pay Range: $33,500 - $35,000
General Description:
OU Office of Financial Aid is looking for an energetic and motivated individual who is committed to providing excellent financial aid services to OU students, prospective students, and their families. OU's Office of Financial Aid processes over $33 million in funds annually from a variety of sources.
The Financial Aid Office plays an integral role in the enrollment and retention efforts of the Institution and as such the Financial Aid Counselor must have a passion for education and customer service. Under the supervision of the Director, this position performs a variety of activities to administer federal, state and institutional aid funds. The Financial Aid Counselor guides students to complete their financial aid applications, counsels families on the details of their financial aid awards, and helps students find ways to finance their education. Applicants must be results-oriented and possess exceptional customer service, presentation, and public speaking skills. Applicants must have the ability to handle busy phones and email, as well as in-person advising.
Specific Responsibilities/Duties:
* Provides information, advising, and counseling to financial aid recipients and applicants using knowledge of federal, state and institutional financial aid policies and regulations.
* Performs award packaging using knowledge of federal and institutional needs analysis. Review financial aid files by performing verification of data. Initiates follow up items requiring clarification or any file discrepancies.
* Monitors and revises financial aid awards accordingly due to changes in enrollment, EFC, housing or resources.
* Counsels financial aid recipients with academic progress issues.
* Reports system glitches to appropriate party.
* Other duties as assigned by the Director
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree
* Familiar with federal financial aid policies and procedures
* Computer proficiency is essential
* Excellent customer service and superb interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
* Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
