Last Thursday, February 1, the State Regents approved proposed changes to policies for the Oklahoma's Promise program. Through the Administrative Procedures Act (APA) process, these proposed changes will now be sent to the Oklahoma Legislature and the Governor for consideration. If they are approved by the Legislature and Governor, the would become effective at a date later this year. The changes almost all relate to the statutory changes approved in SB 529 of the 2017 Legislature (increasing the income limit at the time of application; prohibiting payment for 0-level remedial courses; applying the second income check every year in college; expanding the use of the scholarship to more career tech programs; establishing a maximum limit on the number of credit hours for which the scholarship will pay in college; eliminating a statutory college GPA requirement).
You can find the policy changes in the agenda item on pages 37-46 of the State Regents meeting agenda at http://www.okhighered.org/state-system/pdf/2018-2-1-Agenda.pdf.
Let me know if you have any questions.
