[Oasfaa] SWASFAA Volunteer Opportunities

Good evening OASFAA,

I am writing to let you know of some amazing volunteer opportunities with SWASFAA! Being a part of your regional association brings many networking opportunities and educational experiences that you don't get at the state or national level. Each committee is comprised of volunteers from each state... Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Louisiana, which gives you the opportunity to network with colleagues and bounce ideas off of those outside of your immediate area. You not only professionally benefit from these connections, but you'll also personally benefit from the lifetime friendships you will make! So come join us...

Awards Committee - Chair - Lauren Jackson (LA) - potterl at nsula.edu<mailto:potterl at nsula.edu> - charged with recognition of SWASFAA individuals who have provided service or made significant contributions toward the aims and ideals of the financial aid profession in our region.

Boot Camp Committee - Chair - Melanie Rinehart (OK) - m.rinehart at sscok.edu<mailto:m.rinehart at sscok.edu> - charged with carrying out a workshop for neophyte (two years or less experience) training workshop in conjunction with the Annual Conference.

Conference Committee - Chair - Janell Valdez (NM) - JaValdez at salud.unm.edu<mailto:JaValdez at salud.unm.edu> - charged with designing a conference program that will meet the professional needs of the SWASFAA membership.

Nominations & Elections Committee - Chair - Lauren Jackson (LA) - potterl at nsula.edu<mailto:potterl at nsula.edu> - charged with selecting nominees for SWASFAA offices and preparing the slate of candidates; carrying out a fair SWASFAA nominations and elections process; and encouraging SWASFAA members to run for national office and fully participate in the NASFAA elections process.

Training/Continuing Education Committee - Chair - Shannon Crossland (TX) - shannon.crossland at ttu.edu<mailto:shannon.crossland at ttu.edu> - charged to develop training opportunities for the Association as directed by the Board of Directors

To volunteer you (your school) must be current SWASFAA members. Most all committee meetings can be attended via the web. Feel free to email either myself or the committee chair listed above if you are interested in any of the committees or if you have any specific questions.

Please help me show SWASFAA that Oklahoma is committed to greatness and serves better than any other state! Volunteer today!
