I am sorry I missed my incoming president welcome at the conference last week. I hope y'all enjoyed the conference. It was a great time to network and learn.
I am going to put the important stuff at the beginning of the email and the less important at the bottom, because I know we all don't have time to read long emails.

I know they mentioned this at the conference, but we need more volunteers! We have lots of areas you can help with. Many of which don't require you to come to meetings.
Do you like event planning? Are you a historian? Do you keep up to date with current legislative happenings? Do you have Financial Aid knowledge you would like to share?

As I mentioned, many of these committees don't require you to leave the office. But we want more voices to ensure we serve the Association as best we can!

 Now the less important stuff, Below is my president's welcome.(what I would have said at conference). I am so excited for this next year!
"For those of you I haven’t had the chance to meet yet, I’m Kalin Henneke. I work at Autry Technology Center, and like all of you, I’ve spent many late hours thinking about FAFSA changes, Pell recalculations, Cost of Attendance adjustments and how best to explain aid to the 5th student of the day who just asked me how they can “get some of That FAFSA Money”.
Now, I’ll be honest with you—I'm still kind of new to financial aid. I’ve been in education for 10 years but started in Financial Aid 3 years ago.  I had one year of  “the Pell Chart era” and have been learning alongside all of you in the “what the heck is going on era”. I have not stopped Googling acronyms, second-guessing every award, and crossing my fingers
“that one file” doesn’t get selected for an audit.  But thanks to so many of you—your mentorship, patience, and willingness to answer my many questions—I’ve found my footing in this field. And I’ve also found my people.
Because what I’ve realized is this: you don’t have to know everything to make a difference. You just have to care enough to learn, to grow, and to show up for your students—and that’s exactly what every single person in this room does.
As incoming president, I want to keep building on that spirit. OASFAA has been a lifeline for me, and I want to make sure it continues to be that space for everyone—whether you’ve been in financial aid for two months or twenty years.
So thank you—for this opportunity, for your trust, and for being the kind of professionals who make this field better every day. I’m excited, a little nervous, and 100% ready to keep learning and leading alongside all of you."
