The Treasurer position that we voted to make an appointed position is open for application. The application link is located below.
The application will be open until filled, but we would like to have the position filled soon to get the necessary training under the current Treasurer.

Nonpaid position
The position includes several benefits: A fully funded trip to the NASFAA Leadership Conference during the first year of service and again every third year thereafter. Each year you serve, you’ll receive free registration and hotel accommodations for the OASFAA Conference. Additional opportunities to attend other conferences or workshops may also be available with Board approval.

TREASURER
Position Description
This is an Association-leading volunteer position, ideal for those interested in determining and advancing strategic directions, governing over long-term goals, representing the Association to other members, and setting the tone for member experiences.
By serving on the Board of Directors, volunteers actively engage with the Association's strategies, finances, and governance to further enhance the Financial Aid community.
OASFAA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEMBERSHIP
The OASFAA Board of Directors consists of the Executive Committee (President, President-Elect, Past- President, Secretary, and 2 Delegates at Large) and approximately 12-15 Committee Chairs/Co- Chairs.
TREASURER RESPONSIBILITIES
●Serve on the Executive Committee as non-voting member and attend all meetings
●Prepare for, attend, and participate in all Board of Directors meetings
●Chair the Finance Committee
●Provide financial oversight for the Association
●Review and provide feedback on operating budgets prepared by the Board
●Present a monthly financial report on all financial transactions at each meeting of the Board
●Present an annual financial report in collaboration with the Association’s Finance Committee that is distributed to all Association members as part of the annual business meeting.
●In consultation with the President Elect, finance committee and appropriate Associational members, present regular updates on long-term financial strategy
●In conjunction with the Finance Committee, ensure that an audit is conducted of OASFAA financial records at least every two years
●Complete other duties as delegated by the President
QUALIFICATIONS & ELIGIBILITY At the time of application, individuals must have:
●Full-time employment at a higher-education institution
●Active OASFAA membership
●5 years of professional, full-time employment in higher education/higher education adjacent work in the Financial Aid field
●A letter of Institutional support
EXPECTATIONS
➢ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP
Treasurer position is required to maintain an active Association membership for the duration of their term.
➢HIGHER EDUCATION EMPLOYMENT
Treasurer position is required to maintain employment at a higher education institution or a non-profit interest in the field of Financial Aid for the duration of their term.
➢FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS
Financial support (institutional or personal) is required to cover travel costs to attend conferences and Board of Director meetings. If institutional support is unavailable, email the chair of the Nomination & Elections committee to discuss options.
➢TIME COMMITMENT
Treasurer position is a commitment of three years. During the course of the term, a Treasurer should anticipate an average of 10 hours of Association-related calls and project work per month, in addition to attending in-person and virtual OASFAA Board of Director meetings.
➢COMMUNICATION & REPRESENTATION
Treasurer responsibilities require members to be in active communication with other members, executive committee members, and external constituents. The Treasurer position is expected to engage in discussion and actively participate in Board of Directors' work. Treasurer position is also expected to represent the Board of Directors to the membership with clarity, professionalism, and integrity.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ATTITUDES
●Diverse professional experience with a variety of institution types, Federal Aid positions, supervision lines, etc.
●Successfully completed a full-term in a previous OASFAA or Higher Ed Association leadership role
●Leadership and management experience that reflect the skills needed to fulfill the Treasurer’s responsibilities outlined above.
●No less than 5 years of Federal Financial Aid experience
●Experience in budgeting, accounting, and reporting
●Knowledge and/or Experience managing budgets
