[Oasfaa] PLUS Loan Application Extension

The Department of Education (DE) has released a notice from the Office of
Management and Budget (OMB), reflecting a 90- day extension of the existing
PLUS application/note.  The original expiration date of July, 2001 has been
extended until October, 31, 2001.  Therefore, lenders and schools should
feel free to use the current application and endorser addendum until then.  

In addition to this extension, DE sent a "revised" PLUS application and
addendum to OMB on June 6, 2001.  This revised application/note is expected
to be used following expiration of the current form and until the PLUS
Master Promissory Note (MPN) is approved.  The AdHoc Standardization
Committee continues to wait on a response to the PLUS MPN package that was
submitted to DE for approval last year.
