Here's the latest:

Apparently, the 800 number issue is confined to the midwest. IL, IN, and OH.
AT&T, Ameritech, MCI, Sprint, and Time Warner (the local provider to the Fishers
building) are all having the same problem.  If someone dials an 800 number, a fast busy signal is
received.   There is no estimated time for resolution although the various phone
companies are obviously working on the problem.

Again, 1888-2Sallie & 1-888-2School are fine.

I will update you as I learn more.
