ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, STUDENT FINANCIAL AID
(FEDERAL PROGRAMS)
The University of Wyoming invites applications for the position of Associate Director for Federal Programs. The successful candidate will be a creative and collaborative professional who can effectively administer the Federal Title IV (financial aid) programs for the University. The Associate Director for Federal Programs, along with the Associate Director for Scholarship, reports directly to the Director of Student Financial Aid and is organizationally located in Enrollment Management within the Division of Student Affairs. The Associate Director provides leadership within the Office of Student Financial Aid coordinating the awarding of Federal financial aid programs to best meet the needs of UW students while following federal regulatory requirements.
The Associate Director for Federal Programs
Provides administrative leadership and supervision for the Federal financial aid unit within the Office of Student Financial Aid which has a staff of eleven employees.
Oversees the administration of all federal financial aid funds.
Monitors, evaluates and recommends improvements to mechanisms for the delivery of Federal aid programs to qualified student applicants.
Collaborates closely with Associate Director for Scholarship Administration in the development of financial aid award packages to best meet the needs of UW students.
Reviews, monitors and adjusts student aid awards as necessary.
Resolves student appeals pertaining to their financial aid eligibility/awards.
Coordinates closely with the Office of Student Financial Operations in the administration of student loan programs.
Directs the implementation of appropriate technology to enhance and automate services to students and parents.
Serves on the Process Management Team of enrollment management
Is well informed on Federal and institutional rules as well as current philosophies of need analyses and packaging.
Effectively administers Federal aid programs.
Utilizes effective management approaches and techniques for enhancing productivity and increasing job satisfaction of staff.
Collects and analyzes data, prepares reports and applications for funds, including the FISAP, and prepares forms for office and student use.
Coordinates, with the Assistant Director for Outreach, state-wide programs to students and parents, compiles informational materials and coordinates financial aid delivery to off-campus students.
The successful applicant must
Possess a bachelor’s degree; master’s preferred.
Experienced a minimum of four years of progressive responsibility for federal financial aid programs.
Demonstrate organizational, managerial and budgetary skills.
Have extensive experience with student information systems (UW uses SCT”S IA IDMS student system.
Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
Show an ability to build strong working relationships throughout the university community.
Reflect a strong commitment to diversity.
The University of Wyoming is a doctoral/research (extensive), Internet II, Division I-A land-grant university with nearly 13,000 students enrolled in baccalaureate, master's degree and doctoral programs. The only 4-year, state-supported university, UW is located in Laramie, a city of 27,000 nestled in a scenic valley between two ranges of the Rocky Mountains. The campus is a two-hour drive north of Denver, CO. This region has clean air, open spaces and blue skies, one of the lowest state tax structures, and proximity to numerous national parks, recreational areas and forests.
