Wichita State University<BR><BR>WSU invites applications for
the position of Financial Aid Counselor /<BR>Veteran’s Affairs Certifying
Official. The Financial Aid Counselor / VA<BR>Certifying Official provides
quality financial aid counseling to students,<BR>prospective students, and
families and assists with various federal program<BR>responsibilities. In
addition this position has specific responsibilities<BR>related to the veterans
administration educational benefits programs.<BR>Duties include but are not
limited to: counsels student and families<BR>regarding the various
federal, state, and institutional aid programs, and<BR>assists them with their
concerns including the application and awarding<BR>process; oversees
certifications for Bureau of Indian Affairs and<BR>Immigration and
Naturalization Service; processes unofficial withdrawals<BR>for Return to Title
IV aid calculation; processes professional judgment<BR>requests; and assists in
the evaluation of aid eligibility and awarding of<BR>funds. Specific VA
Certifying Official responsibilities include: assists<BR>veterans and
dependents of veterans in all aspects of the educational<BR>benefits programs;
processes initial applications; verifies and certifies<BR>enrollment status of
veterans; monitors and reports grades to the VA<BR>Regional Office; supervises
and trains VA work-study student employees.<BR>Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; effective oral and written<BR>communication skills; ability
to work collaboratively as a team;<BR>demonstrated commitment to diversity and
successful experience working with<BR>diverse populations; and a commitment to
customer service, higher education<BR>and working with students.<BR>Preferred
Qualifications: knowledge of federal financial aid policies
and<BR>programs; work experience in a financial aid office or a closely
