<DIV>The University of Louisiana at Monroe (approx. 9,000 graduate and
undergraduate students) invites applications for the position of Director of
Financial Aid Services and Scholarships who reports to the President for Student
Affairs. Other units within the Division of Student Affairs include:
Career Services; Counseling Center; Recreational Services; Natatorium; Student
Life and Leadership; Student Services and Judicial Affairs and the University
Police Department. This is a twelve-month unclassified position.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Responsibilities: Serves as the campus authority on federal and state
financial aid programs, manages professional and support staff, is responsible
for administering all operations of the financial aid program including federal,
state and university sources, a scholarship program to include both academic and
merit-based awards, and two student employment programs, as well as analysis of
data, and formulating policies and procedures to adhere to student aid
regulations. Approximately 75% of the ULM student body receives some form
of financial aid. The Department posts over 50 million dollars yearly in
aid and awards. The successful candidate will lead the development of
effective financial aid packaging strategies in student recruitment and
retention, in addition fostering and maintaining a supportive student-centered
atmosphere that is sensitive and responsive to the needs of students.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Qualifications: Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree
from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field (master's
preferred), and at least five years administrative experience in the office of
financial aid as a director, associate/assistant director or equivalent in a
college or university environment. Applicants must have a thorough
knowledge of current financial aid programs, compliance and reporting
requirements and experience with implementing a highly automated financial aid
system. A thorough working knowledge and experience with FAM/SCT PLUS 2000
integrated system and knowledge of FOCUS reporting is a plus.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Requirements: Candidates must be a team player with proven managerial
skills, a great attitude, recognized talent to speak in public, and strong
verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Experience in strategic planning
and packaging for the recruitment and retention of students in working with
federal and state agencies is a must for this candidate.</DIV>
