qualifications and experience <BR><BR>Major/Essential Duties of Job:
Manage the administrative responsibility of the Scholarships Office, to include
the general administration, fund management, applicant screening and payment
processing of a $60 million scholarship program. The Assistant Director works
closely with numerous offices on and off campus to coordinate the awarding
process and provide direction, information, and consultation when required.
Develop and interpret policies and procedures regarding awarding and processing
of scholarship; oversees counseling functions of some team members. Duties
include management of scholarship area, program and policy development and
regulation, collaboration/interaction with general public, student, and outside
agencies, and general oversight of the area. Direct the tracking system for
approximately 2,500 scholarship accounts, including authorizing scholarship
payments, receipting scholarship checks from outside donors, requesting funds
from the Texas A&M Foundation and the Association of Former Students,
working with colleges and departments to ensure accuracy, and preparing monthly
reports on status of all scholarship accounts. Responsible for the oversight and
coordination of scholarship programs and enrichment activities associated with
scholarships, such as the Conoco Phillips Spirit Scholar program at Texas
A&M University. Other duties as required. <BR><BR>Required
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Student Affairs, Education,
Public Administration, Business, Counseling or related field or equivalent
combination of training and experience. Four (4) years progressively responsible
experience in a professional administrative or supervisory capacity in student
financial aid in an institution of higher education. Requires ability to
multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
<BR><BR>Preferred Education and Experience: Masters degree in Same or
Related Field. Five years progressively responsible financial aid or scholarship
experience. Two to five years management/administrative experience in student
financial aid in a medium to large institution of higher education. Knowledge of
current versions of Microsoft products including Windows and Office, Financial
Aid software, FAMIS software (TAMU accounting software). Experience developing
and delivering staff training.<BR></DIV></FONT></BODY></HTML>
