<DIV><FONT size=2><STRONG>ASSISTANT/SENIOR ASSISTANT DIRECTOR</STRONG><BR>Office
of Scholarships and Student Aid<BR>University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill<BR><BR><BR><STRONG><U>DESCRIPTION:</U></STRONG> The University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking an Assistant/Senior Assistant Director
(title based on appropriate experience) for the Office of Scholarships and
Student Aid. This is a full-time, permanent, EPA non-faculty position
within the University that reports directly to the Deputy Director of
Scholarships and Student Aid.<BR></FONT><FONT size=2><BR><STRONG><U>MAJOR
RESPONSIBILITIES:</U></STRONG> </FONT></DIV>
<P><FONT size=2><STRONG><U>Primary Liaison to Graduate and Professional School
Programs:</U></STRONG> The Assistant Director is responsible for providing
guidance and support to the graduate and professional school programs (Law,
Dental, Medical, Business, Nursing etc.) concerning their merit and need-based
departmental aid programs. This includes assisting with publications,
outreach activities, policy and procedure development, eligibility
determination, awarding and year-end reporting. Attending national
conferences that focus on graduate and professional aid issues is
important.<BR><BR><STRONG><U>Manage Student Loan Programs:</U></STRONG> The
Assistant Director manages FFELP and private loan programs so that high levels
of service and delivery of loan funds are met. This includes working with
lenders and guarantee agencies to ensure that current operating procedures are
as efficient as possible. Coordinating the completion of Federal Entrance
and Exit Counseling requirements is a
responsibility.<BR><BR><STRONG><U>Supervision of Staff:</U></STRONG> The
Assistant Director is responsible for the supervision of two full-time
positions. The first is a Student Services Manager who oversees office
automated loan processes and systems, along with providing problem solving
expertise for individual student cases. The second position is a Senior
Counselor who directly supports students within the MBA, Executive MBA and
Master of Accounting programs. This position is physically housed in the
School of Business.<BR><BR><STRONG><U>Need-Based Processing:</U></STRONG> The
Assistant Director is responsible for managing and processing a portion of the
total number of need-based financial aid applications received by the Office of
Scholarships and Student Aid. This involves determining aid eligibility,
exercising professional judgment, and having a clear understanding and
comprehension of Federal Title IV financial aid
regulations.<BR><BR><STRONG><U>Member of Office Management Team:</U></STRONG>
The Assistant Director is a member of the management team within the Office of
Scholarships and Student Aid. As a collaborative group, they are
responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures
that ensure Office and University goals are successfully being
met.<BR><BR><STRONG><U>QUALIFICATIONS:</U></STRONG> A Master's degree plus
five years of relevant experience with financial aid programs is strongly
preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience in a large public
university setting working with graduate and professional school <SPAN
class=796205313-08042005>aid </SPAN>programs, or related equivalents.
He/she will demonstrate exceptional written and oral communication skills, along
with demonstrated leadership and counseling skills. The position requires
an individual with a good eye for detail, exceptional organizational and
time-management skills, and a strong work ethic.<BR><BR><STRONG><U>STARTING
DATE:</U></STRONG> Appointment to begin on or after May 15,
2005.<BR><BR><STRONG><U>SALARY:</U></STRONG> Competitive salary
