applications for the position of Assistant
Director of<BR>Financial Aid Systems. The Assistant
Director for Systems reports to the<BR>Associate Director of
Financial Aid and participates as a member of the<BR>central
leadership teams, both in the Office of Financial
Aid and the<BR>Enrollment Services department. The Assistant Director for
Systems has the<BR>primary responsibility for oversight
of processing systems within the<BR>office and assists with written
communications related to request and award<BR>notifications to students.
The Assistant Director will assist in resolving<BR>complex regulatory or
subjective problems that cannot be resolved by office<BR>systems or
counseling staff. The Assistant Director for
Systems will<BR>provide leadership implementing a new administrative information
system for<BR>SCT/Banner. The Assistant Director
for Systems has direct supervisory<BR>responsibility for three full-time
classified staff and student assistants.<BR><BR>Duties include but are not
limited to:<BR>· Responsible for all Electronic Data Exchange
(EDE) processes. Will<BR>provide oversight and direction for systems staff
performing these<BR>functions and ensure timely processing of application data
and request /<BR>award letters to students.<BR>· Work in
conjunction with Associate Director to coordinate activities<BR>of systems staff
with loan processing assistant and loan counselor. Will<BR>be
cross-trained in some electronic transmission functions relating to
the<BR>Federal Family of Education Loan Programs (FFELP).<BR>·
Responsible for the direct supervision of three classified
support<BR>staff. These three staff work with the following systems:
application<BR>intake and review, data entry, verification, Electronic Data
Exchange<BR>(EDE), Federal Pell Grant systems, and document imaging and
workflow.<BR>· Oversee all aspects of need analysis and
federal processing.<BR>Includes oversight of internal packaging guidelines and
awarding of aid to<BR>students to ensure that student files are processed
accurately and in a<BR>timely manner. Ensure that student aid packaging /
processing guidelines<BR>are in compliance with federal, state and institutional
rules and<BR>regulations.<BR>· Oversee all aspects of
National Student Loan Data System<BR>Transfer/Monitoring. Includes
oversight of NSLDS Transfer/Monitoring<BR>guidelines and processing.<BR>·
Resolution of regulatory or subjective problems related to
Selective<BR>Service, Immigration and Naturalization (INS), verification,
default<BR>status, bankruptcy, etc. Will assist systems staff with
problems in<BR>resolving documentation in these areas.<BR>·
Office liaison for administration of State of Kansas financial
aid<BR>programs. Includes processing and packaging of state awards and
completion<BR>of state reports.<BR>· Assist students and
their families in the financial aid process.<BR>Counsels with prospective and
current students and families regarding<BR>financial aid issues and concerns,
including application and awarding<BR>process, budget issues and available
options to meet their needs.<BR>· Will have direct and
in-direct contact with public to disseminate<BR>information about various
federal, state and institutional aid programs<BR>available to students.
Contact will be in-person (individually and group<BR>settings), via telephone,
electronic and written correspondence.<BR>· Assists with
training of full time and student staff. Will provide<BR>or arrange for
training related to the systems / processing / data imaging<BR>functions of the
office.<BR>· Will assist in the calculation of Return of
Title IV aid. In<BR>conjunction with other counseling staff, will
calculate the Return of Title<BR>IV aid using the Department of Education’s
software program.<BR>· Will assist Director with funds
management. Will be responsible for<BR>notifying the Director and office
staff when fund limits have been reached<BR>in packaging / awarding
process.<BR>· Will have responsibility for coordination and
oversight of training,<BR>scheduling and payroll budget for student employees
working in the systems<BR>area.<BR>· Develop professionally
by reading and attending conferences and<BR>workshops.<BR>·
Be willing to assist with other duties as assigned.<BR><BR><BR>Required
Qualifications:<BR><BR>A bachelor’s degree; effective oral and written
communication skills; one<BR>year full time work experience in student financial
aid environment;<BR>commitment to customer service; demonstrated commitment to
diversity and<BR>successful experience working with diverse populations;
significant<BR>knowledge of federal financial aid policies and programs; proven
ability<BR>for detail work; ability to work collaboratively as part of a
team;<BR>demonstrated proficiency in leadership and supervision; proven ability
to<BR>handle multiple tasks at once; basic computer operation proficiency; and
a<BR>customer service orientation with a commitment to higher education
and<BR>working with students.<BR><BR>Preferred Qualifications:<BR><BR>Two
to five years full time work experience in
student financial aid<BR>environment; supervisory experience in
student financial aid environment;<BR>significant knowledge of
federal financial aid policies and
programs<BR>regarding general eligibility
guidelines, processing and packaging<BR>guidelines,
and in compliance issues regarding with federal, state
and<BR>institutional rules and regulations.<BR><BR>Application
