Wichita State
University<BR><BR><BR>WSU invites applications for the position of Financial Aid
Counselor. The<BR>Financial Aid Counselor provides quality financial aid
counseling to<BR>students, prospective students, and families and assists with
various<BR>federal program responsibilities. In addition this position has
specific<BR>responsibilities related to the veterans administration
educational<BR>benefits programs.<BR><BR>Duties include but are not limited
to: The responsibilities of the<BR>Financial Aid Counselor
include:<BR>· Assist students and families in the financial
aid process.<BR>Responsible for advising with regard to all phases of the
application and<BR>delivery system.<BR>· Disseminate
information about various federal, state, and<BR>institutional aid programs.
Contact will be in-person (individually and<BR>groups), via telephone, and
written correspondence.<BR>· Acquire and maintain general
information on Wichita State University.<BR>Also maintain information on
scholarships, budgeting, college costs and an<BR>overview of the admissions
process.<BR>· Oversee Immigration and Naturalization Service
Certifications.<BR>· Oversee the evaluation of Professional
Judgements and Budget<BR>Adjustments.<BR>· Assist in the
evaluation of aid eligibility and awarding of funds.<BR>·
Develop professionally by reading and attending professional<BR>conferences and
workshops.<BR>· Process return to title IV calculations for
unofficial withdrawal<BR>students.<BR>· Key contact for
Physician Assistant and Physical Therapy students.<BR>· Be
willing to assist in other areas as assigned.<BR>· Package
summer awards.<BR><BR><BR>The responsibilities as VA Certifying Official
include:<BR>· Assist veterans and dependents of veterans in
the Educational<BR>Benefits Program. Responsible for advising with regard to all
phases of the<BR>application and delivery system.<BR>·
Disseminate information about the Educational Benefits Program.<BR>Contact will
be in-person (individually and groups), via telephone, and<BR>written
correspondence.<BR>· Process VA students’ initial
applications.<BR>· Verify enrollment with the Registrar's
Office.<BR>· Certify enrollment with the VA through use of
the VAONCE computer<BR>program.<BR>· Monitor transcripts to
insure valid GPAs from term to term, and to<BR>insure that students follow their
program of study.<BR>· Monitor grades and report Incompletes
to the VA Regional Office.<BR>· Work with, and advise
students when they register for courses, or<BR>change their
registration.<BR>· Use reports to monitor changes in
enrollment status and report any<BR>changes made by the student to the VA
Regional Office.<BR>· Respond to inquiries from the VA for
information from the student's<BR>file.<BR>· Provide the VA
with the Schedule of Courses and Undergraduate and<BR>Graduate
Catalogues.<BR>· Assist the students when inquiring about
missing pay.<BR>· Develop professionally by reading and
attending professional<BR>conferences and workshops.<BR>·
Maintain various statistics and reports on VA Students attending and<BR>benefit
dollars received.<BR>· Maintain and update information on the
VA Website.<BR>· Supervision of VA Work-Study
students.<BR><BR><BR>Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; effective
oral and written<BR>communication skills; ability to work collaboratively as a
team;<BR>demonstrated commitment to diversity and successful experience working
with<BR>diverse populations; and a commitment to customer service, higher
education<BR>and working with students, proven ability for detail
work.<BR>Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of federal financial aid
policies and<BR>programs; work experience in a financial aid office or a closely
