<DIV>Working Title: Associate Director, Student Financial Services<BR>Official
title: ASSOC DIR, FIN AID/L(K44FL)<BR>Degree and area of specialization:
Bachelor's degree required<BR>Minimum number of years and type of relevant work
experience: Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible positions
within the student financial aid profession is required.<BR>Supervisory
experience of permanent full-time staff is a must.<BR>Strong written and verbal
communication skills are critical, including public speaking.<BR></DIV>
<DIV>The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:<BR>- a proven record
of commitment to and ability to work effectively with groups and
individuals<BR>from a variety of backgrounds (particularly socio-economic),
identities, ethnicities, cultures;<BR>- a passion for working with and for
students and aid applicants;<BR>- a committment to serving students from
economically disadvantaged backgrounds;<BR>- leadership and effective management
skills; and<BR>- experiences in a team-work setting that forwards the goals of
the unit.<BR>Understanding integrated student systems such as PeopleSoft as well
as uses of portal technology is very desirable.<BR>Experience in strategic
planning, project management and process improvement is a plus.<BR></DIV>
<DIV>Principal duties:<BR>Oversee the daily operations within the Office of
Student Financial Services (OSFS) related to<BR>advising, computing systems,
student employment programs, loan programs, scholarships, need analysis,
awarding, training and outreach services for undergraduate, graduate, law,
pharmacy, medicine and public health and veterinary medicine students.<BR>Serve
in a leadership capacity on the office leadership team to forward the mission
and goals of the Office of Student Financial Services Chair the OSFS appeal
board.<BR>Conduct research and interpret federal and state regulations as they
relate to aid eligibility,<BR>awarding and disbursement of financial
aid.<BR>Take an active role in state, regional and national professional
financial aid organizations such as Wisconsin Association of Student Financial
Aid Administrators (WASFAA), Midwest Association of Student Financial Aid
Administrators (MASFAA), College Board and Big Ten Associate Directors
meetings.<BR>Collaborate with colleagues from within and outside the division to
maximize limited resources to best serve applicants and students.<BR>Contribute
to and serve as a leader within the Division of Enrollment Management to forward
the goals of the division.<BR>Provide leadership and support for diversity
efforts within the office, division and the campus.<BR></DIV>
<DIV>With the other members of the leadership team, ensure and facilitate an
office climate where all students, applicants and their families, staff,
colleagues feel comfortable and welcome.<BR>Act as on-going liaison with a
number of campus units, off-campus agencies and organizations.<BR>Act for the
director in her absence.<BR>Other duties as

Enrollment Management along with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the
Office of the Registrar and ISIS Central (Integrated Student Information
System). The Division is part of the Office of the Provost. The Associate
Director reports to the Director of the Office of Student Financial
Services.</DIV>

Office of Student Financial Services<BR>employs a staff of 41 permanent
employees and approximately 55 student employees. UW-Madison students receive
