There were no changes to the proposed rule changes from those initially posted in September 2011 (as distributed to the OASFAA listserve on September 12, 2011). The rule changes are now under consideration by the Governor and the Oklahoma Legislature.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>The attached agenda item includes some analysis of the policy revisions as well as the actual policy amendments. The policy revisions implement several changes mandated in law by the Oklahoma Legislature.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoListParagraph style='text-indent:-.25in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><![if !supportLists]><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Symbol'><span style='mso-list:Ignore'>·<span style='font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"'> </span></span></span><![endif]><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>Implementation of a statutory second family income check when the Oklahoma’s Promise student begins college. The second family income limit is set in law at $100,000 federal adjusted gross income. This process will start with the 2012 high school graduates and apply to each high school graduating class thereafter. The second family income check will be done only once when the student starts college. The student/parents will be required to file a FAFSA which will be used to verify adjusted gross income. This change does not apply to any Oklahoma’s Promise students that graduated high school prior to 2012. The policy changes describe how the new GPA should be calculated.
