enters college from $100,000 to $50,000, passed as introduced in the House Appropriations and Budget Subcommittee on Higher Education on Monday, Feb. 11. The bill was then heard in the full House Appropriations and Budget Committee on Wednesday, Feb. 13,
where, after much discussion, was amended to set the second income check limit at $75,000 rather than $50,000. Based on our most recent data, we estimate that about 5% (roughly 250 students) of each entering OKPromise college freshmen class have family incomes
between $75,000 - $100,000. These students would be eliminated from the program under the bill as amended. The bill’s next stop will be the House floor. We will continue to monitor this bill very closely.
