OGE Energy launches educational grant program
OKLAHOMA CITY, Aug 27, 2003 -- OGE Energy Corp. announced today that it
has launched an educational grant program to assist public school
teachers with math, reading and science projects during the 2003-2004
school year.
"We realize that because of the difficult budget times, additional
material to supplement classroom curriculum may not be available," said
Brian Alford, spokesman for OGE Energy. "We hope the grant program will
serve as an alternate resource to teachers."
OGE Energy will award grants, up to $1,000 each, to teachers at schools
served by its subsidiaries OG&E Electric Services and Enogex. For a
complete list of cities served by OG&E, teachers may visit the OGE
Energy Web site at www.oge.com <http://www.oge.com/> . The Enogex area
includes Edmond, OK; Chickasha, OK; Elk City, OK; and Weatherford, OK.
Community leaders, selected at the local level, will review all
applications received from their area. They will select semi-finalists
whose applications will be forwarded to Oklahoma City for final review
and selection of winners.
For information on how to receive a grant application, call
1-877-775-7797 toll-free. Grant applications are also available on the
OGE Energy Web site. OGE Energy must receive applications by mail no
later than Oct. 15, 2003.
OGE Energy Corp. is the parent company of OG&E Electric Services and
Enogex Inc. OG&E serves 720,000 customers in a service-territory
spanning 30,000 square miles in Oklahoma and western Arkansas. Enogex
is a natural gas pipeline and energy marketing business.
