Assistant Director, Competency Based Assessment - (STA002654)  Department Name:D0005 Institutional Effectiveness
Description


The Assistant Director, Competency Based Assessment is responsible for the on-going assessment of a competency-based undergraduate program. This includes supporting the development/revision of for-credit competency-based curriculum, assessment of curriculum and program assessment and improvement of student learning, curriculum, and program effectiveness.

DUTIES

  1.  Supports development and implementation of competency-based undergraduate degree
  2.  Conducts validity and reliability analysis of pre-post testing and curriculum effectiveness
  3.  Assists faculty in developing and updating valid and reliable pre-post tests
  4.  Ensures alignment between curriculum and pre/post tests
  5.  Assists faculty in developing analytical rubrics to evaluate student competency
  6.  Conducts statistical analysis to determine validity and reliability of pre-and post-tests
  7.  Assists faculty in identifying program-level learning and effectiveness outcomes, data collection, and conduct rigorous program assessment to ensure curriculum effectiveness
  8.  Develops reports documenting program assessment and improvement
  9.  Develops and delivers on-going professional development for faculty related to the development, management and implementation of competency-based curriculum and related technology

10.  Manages program assessment and coordinates efforts in partnership with faculty, staff and community college partners to improve student learning and program effectiveness within the degree

  1.  Develops and delivers on-going professional development for faculty related to the development, management and implementation of effective assessment and related technology
  2.  Develops reports documenting program assessment and improvement

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge:

  1.  Knowledge of competency-based curriculum development and teaching and learning
  2.  Knowledge program assessment and strategies for improving learning
  3.  Knowledge of grant and project management
  4.  Proficiency in the use of assessment tracking and data analysis tools, statistical databases and MS Office suite of applications
  5.  Knowledge of rubric and survey development, basic statistics and methodologies used in the analysis of qualitative data is an asset
Skills:

  1.  Highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Abilities:

  1.  Ability to conduct of pre- and post-test validity and reliability testing
  2.  Ability to collaborate with others
  3.  Ability to supervise multiple projects
  4.  Ability to help prioritize projects, conduct training and facilitate curriculum development and strategies to improve student learning and program effectiveness
  5.  Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community

WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Primary Work Location: Works in an office environment

Physical Demands:Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements. Position is physically comfortable; individual has discretion about sitting (75%) walking (<10%), standing (25%), etc.
Occasional lifting, pushing, climbing, and pulling (<10 lbs) may be required
Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks

Required Education:
ABD in Educational Psychology or Statistics with background in curriculum development and assessment or in Higher Education Leadership or Curriculum Design with background in measurement and statistics.
Required Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years in program assessment

Minimum of three (3) years in instruction in higher education

License/Certification: None Required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of three (3) years in project management
Experience in business or business education
Six Sigma Certification
DACUM facilitation
Experience developing competency-based curriculum
Experience at the community college level
Ph.D. or EdD in Educational Psychology or Statistics with background in curriculum development or in Higher Education Leadership or Curriculum Design with background in measurement and statistics
