If anyone has strong feelings about not doing it this way then we can brainstorm again on what to do. Report originally face to face classes to covid related switch to online as "99/other" and the originally online classes coded as they would have been normally. How difficult would it be for you all to tease those out? Say reporting originally face to face classes to covid related switch to online as "99/other" and the originally online classes coded as they would have been normally. How would this set up, if it is feasible, affect the care act funding? The other/99 is coming down from Tony Hutchison, Dr. Blanke and other Vice Chancellors in Regents. I think that adding columns to the UDS file would end up being more work for the schools and I'm not sure plausible for us because we are in the middle of a software transformation so lots of resources are going to that. Julie, you say that your set up wouldn't work for this sort of distinction? Note: I am teleworking normal business hours and days. More than half of our term was held as originally planned. Since we are on a trimester calendar and we started January 3, the Covid change only affected the last 5 weeks of our term. To me, it makes more sense to report as originally scheduled and then provide an explanation via email to OSRHE describing how we adjusted the classes after the Covid directives were initiated. Our summer courses will be offered online, if possible, and hands-on classes that must meet in person will meet on campus as usual. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe I sought direction on this question from our Provost, and our decision (before Edurne's email) was to report Spring 2020 method of delivery on the basis of how classes started the semester and how the semester *should* have been if the pandemic had not happened, especially since the method of delivery was among the criteria used by the Department of Education to determine distribution of CARES funding. However, we had planned to report summer courses as all online because that is how the classes are scheduled. I am sure someone at some point will want to know how each of us handled the change and for different types of courses too. We didn't only go to distance ed either which 99 would catch, but will that be enough for the higher ups? We had to do some special setups due to our courses; I mean we had some students take their lab flies home to continue studying on the science side and did some Zoom music final recitals on the arts side, just a couple of examples. I think everyone is going to have a note that this was the COVID semester and assume that all classes ended as some sort of distance. I would suggest leaving the UDS submission as is and if the distance/alternative portion of the semester is needed, add a few columns at the end of the file. So, for example element 30 in E record (method of delivery) will be coded as other or 99 for those cases. "For example, we did not adjust instruction modes in our system for our courses when we moved to no face-to-face meetings." I think all classes would be coded as 99/other for element 30/method of delivery because all classes moved to online, so my thinking is your not adjusting instruction modes in your system wouldn't matter? For example, we did not adjust instruction modes in our system for our courses when we moved to no face-to-face meetings. Most were moved to online but some were moved to synchronous virtual meetings. Are you all going to leave the original instruction_mode as Traditional for this semester for those classes that were originally face-to-face then had to go to online after COVID? 2. How do you report Hybrid courses? In the past we have left these as Traditional because they all met at least one day face-to-face. We are going to utilize a new format (some call it flex, some hy-flex) where the students can attend in person OR online. With our synchronized flex courses the student attends online during the same time as the face-to-face class.
