Council of Grants and Research Meeting:
For the Fall 2023 CGR Meeting, we have collaborated with the NCURA Region V staff to combine our resources and schedule the meeting as a conference session. We hope this will allow CGR members the opportunity to network with both our Oklahoma colleagues as well as our regional colleagues on all things grants and research administration.
The CGR meeting will be held Monday, October 23, 2023, at 9:15 a.m., Red Carpet Room, Sheraton Hotel, 1 North Broadway Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK, 73012. Workshop on NSF CI Funding, for HBCUs, TCUs, and other Under-Resourced MSIs (Part I)
We are excited to announce the date of Wednesday, November 8th from 12:00-3:00 pm ET, for the first of a two-part workshop series about National Science Foundation (NSF) Cyberinfrastructure (CI) Funding Programs targeted for representatives of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), and other under-resourced minority-serving institutions (MSIs), and their cyberinfrastructure collaborators. This workshop series is sponsored by the American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC), the Minority-Serving Campus Cyberinfrastructure Consortium (MS-CC), and The Quilt. The goals of this workshop series are to train constituents at HBCUs, TCUs, and other under-resourced MSIs, as well as their collaborators, on relevant NSF CI funding programs, approaches to develop campus CI goals and strategies, important first steps and tools for grant proposal development, and identifying potential CI collaborators.
The target audience for the workshops is Campus IT Leaders, IT Staff, Faculty, and Administrators at HBCUs, TCUs, and other under-resourced MSIs, who often wear multiple campus hats. In addition, we strongly encourage potential CI collaborators of these institutions, such as regional networks and partnering universities, to attend.

Ideas Lab: Personalized Engineering Learning

An Ideas Lab is an intensive meeting that brings together multiple diverse perspectives to focus on finding innovative cross-disciplinary solutions to a grand challenge problem (see below and PAPPG Chapter II.F.6. for more information about this type of proposal). The goal of the Personalized Engineering Learning Ideas Lab is to extend engineering education research to enable advanced personalization in pedagogy and assessment in a K-12 or higher education context. The following broad areas have been identified as possible avenues to advance knowledge: personalized engineering education, multimodal sensing for personalized learning systems and team-based personalized learning. The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) announces an open competition for a cooperative agreement to manage the FY 2024 Organizational Components of the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program. The FLEX program advances the U.S. foreign policy goals of engaging youth populations and building civil society by providing in-person, academic-year exchanges, and building lasting ties between foreign and U.S. high school students and the communities that host them. The program consists of two exchange programs: (1) the "FLEX inbound" program that brings international high school students to the United States, and (2) the "FLEX Abroad" program that sends American high school students to select FLEX countries.

In 1988, the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Preservation grant program was established to document, preserve, and stabilize historic structures on HBCU campuses. The HBCU grant program exists to repair historic structures on campuses of Historically Black Colleges and Universities that are listed or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places either individually or as contributing to a National Register or National Historic Landmark historic district. Projects must meet major program selection criteria and all work must meet the Secretary of the Interior's Standards and Guidelines for Archeology and Historic Preservation. Projects may also fund survey, nomination, and preservation planning for historic HBCU campuses.
