Our TRIO directors write their own grant after business hours. It's lots of late nights and weekends for them. SE has not hired a grant writer or contracted until our indirect cost rate was due last year. We have successful grant award incentives for faculty, but faculty are also able to request release time to write proposals. We are looking into extending that to staff as well. Putting that out there in case you need alternatives to hiring a grant writer. Respectfully - Susan Trombley, MBA Assistant Comptroller, Grants Finance Southeastern Oklahoma State University 425 W. It's already that time (maybe even a little late) to set a time and place for a Spring Meeting. The first item on the agenda is to elect a new CGR Chair and Secretary/Treasurer. We can do this via email as the charter does not specify location of elections. If you would like to volunteer to run for a position or nominate anyone else, please send in names directly to me (rgordon7 at uco.edu) or Christine Fisher (cfisher at osrhe.edu)! This is a great opportunity for your institution, the regional (grants) network, and to expand individual professional credentials. For the Spring Meeting, please send your thoughts on a time and location. We could do a Zoom meeting or possibly a central location, so let us know what might work best for you/your team(s). Other items to cover during the meeting: * ORD 2024 - Overview, ORD 2025 - NSU. * CGR table presentation (table kit for these events, ideas?): new logo, swag, new table cloth & brochures, general "how to get started in grants" information for non-CGR people, maybe have some grant training/certification information, grant writing as a career, bag with grant info, candy, "where's the money" tag. * We have a possible volunteer (thanks Jamie/SWOSU! :) to update the brochures, so if you have ideas, please bring those with you. We hope everyone had a fantastic and relaxing holiday break. Before the new year gets away from me, thank you to all who attended the Fall Meeting held during the NCURA Region V Conference in October. We hope you had a positive and productive experience meeting new colleagues and absorbing different perspectives on grants and research administration! As a recap and for those who were unable to attend (no worries), following is an overview of the meeting: * Welcomed newcomers and provided overview of CGR and our role in Oklahoma's institutions of higher education. * Addressed each item on the Agenda. * Spring 2023 Minutes were approved. * Because of the limited meeting time, agenda topics were discussed but not all were voted on and approved. * It is time to elect a new Chair, Secretary/Treasurer, and we discussed doing this over email. Once elected, we can plan the Spring 2024 meeting time/place. If anyone is interested in these positions and/or would like to nominate a great candidate, please consider a nomination and we will send requests as soon as we begin the (electronic) election process. * New photos were taken. See attached, and feel free to vote on your favorite one (the other photos had variations of eyes closed). * Fall 2023 Meeting minutes: We are gathering our notes to complete the meeting minutes, so if you have any you would like to share, feel free to send those and we will share those with the group asap. Finally, Oklahoma Research Day is coming up! Save the date for March 8, 2024 (a link to the website is forthcoming!).
