Special Invitation from the Institute of Medicine and the Robert Wood
Johnson Foundation

 

On behalf of Oklahoma City University's Kramer School of Nursing, it is
my pleasure to invite you to attend a special meeting on Tuesday, Nov.
30, to witness history.  You will learn more about the Institute of
Medicine (IOM) and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation recommendations
issued on Oct. 5 on the "Future of Nursing."  The meeting will be an
opportunity to discuss the implications of the recommendations with
other leaders from Oklahoma about the future role of nurses in the
health care delivery system in America as the campaign for action to
implement the recommendations gets underway. 

 

A significant portion of the meeting will be webcast live from the
"National Summit on Advancing Health through Nursing" taking place in
Washington, DC, with key leaders who include IOM Committee Chair Dr.
Donna E. Shalala, President of University of Miami and former US
Secretary of Health and Human Services; Vice-Chair Linda Burnes Bolton,
DrPH, RN, FAAN, Vice President for Nursing at Cedars-Sinai Medical
Center, Los Angeles; Harvey V. Fineberg, MD, PhD, President of the
Institute of Medicine; and Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, MD, MBA, President and
CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.  We will also have time to
discuss the recommendations and implications for our work in Oklahoma.
I hope you can join us for this important meeting and discussion.

 

Simultaneous meetings on Nov. 30 will be held throughout the United
States as thousands of observers and participants gather to learn and
provide input.  Oklahoma City University is pleased to have been invited
to serve as Oklahoma's site for this important dialogue.
