Cox offers education grants in Oklahoma City, Tulsa areas

By Staff Reports, Tulsa World 8/6/2012

Cox Communications will award two $50,000 grants to benefit educational
initiatives in the Tulsa and Oklahoma City metropolitan areas.

The grants will be awarded to an accredited school, nonprofit agency or
consortium of both, that has identified a new or existing educational
initiative that enriches the overall educational experience and social
well-being of students from grades prekindergarten to 12. Applications
will be accepted through Sept. 14.

"We are looking for a great idea, new or in practice, that impacts the
student experience," said Kristin Peck, vice president of government and
public affairs for Cox Oklahoma. "It's up to our partners to define
that. It may be in an afterschool program. It may be through a new
innovative teaching practice. It might even be in a program where the
students and their parents are mutually engaged."
