East Central University (ECU) is seeking qualified applicants for the Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research. The Director provides leadership in promoting, securing and administering external funding to support the University's mission. The Director reports to the Provost and is responsible for oversight of both academic and non-academic external funding efforts. The start date is negotiable, but not later than July 1, 2014.
ECU is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU offers 33 undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences; and 10 master's degrees in education, human resources, and psychology. ECU's 4,600 students come from 32 countries and 28 different states. About 65% of the 172 faculty hold doctorates.
Requirements: A doctoral degree and higher education experience in grantsmanship and private fund raising are preferred, but candidates with a master's degree and a minimum of five years of grant-related experience may be considered. Also, competitive applicants should possess three to five years of leadership and management experience within higher education; demonstrated success in securing and managing grants and contracts from federal, state and private agencies; compliance oversight experience or knowledge, and proven ability to work in a team environment.
Responsibilities: Develop and maintain relationships with federal, state and private funding sources; maintain a working knowledge of faculty research and academic interests and institutional needs; supervise staff; provide assistance, review and feedback on all proposals to ensure consistency with university guidelines; assure compliance through periodic review of project financial activities and programmatic outcomes; oversee IRB and RCR; and coordinate with the ECU Foundation, Inc. staff.
