The Research and Development Efficiency Act (H.R. 5056<http://members.cur.org/members_online/utilities/emailct.asp?37f8a37dfdc6ef3f5c91c27d6ceb025cc9fe4d6583b043a7e0e63d04b99783c3e2e138a6dd21c6ca>) is a bill sponsored by Representative Larry Bucshon (R-IN). A recently released survey found that on average, 42 percent of federal research grant awardees' time is spent on administrative tasks.  H.R. 5056 establishes a working group to review federal regulations affecting research universities in order to harmonize, streamline, and eliminate duplicative Federal regulations and reporting requirements. H.R. 5056 passed by voice vote.
