Hi Susan,

Yes, we are hoping to grow these opportunities and create a small fund for future CGR operations (future workshops, speakers, food, pins, promotional materials, etc.), so we are now instituting a small membership fee.

You should still have the option to register without the fee if needed.

The presenter question is a good one.  As this is the first time we are doing this workshop, we can waive the regular registration fee (without the CGR membership) for two to three presenters.

Registration is now open for the CGR Summer Grant Workshop.  The workshop, entitled: Pivot: Research and Grant Writing in a Changing Landscapeseeks to help participants identify and develop skills to adapt to the (sometimes daily!) changes of the current grant landscape.

We are still looking for a few interested and willing members (or recommendations) for workshop session facilitators at the CGR Summer Grant Workshop on July 23. This is a great opportunity to share knowledge, best-practices, and learn new and emerging information in the research and grants world, as well as networking and collaborating at the regional and local levels!

In the email below, suggested session topics are listed, and suggestions for topics (or a topic you have a particular expertise/passion for) are welcome! We envision each session to be a partial presentation with a “hands-on” component using handouts or “assignments” to facilitate learning and professional development. For example, if presenting on grant budgets (in a changing grant funding landscape), the session might include an example of a successfully funded detailed budget (identifiers removed) to a non-government entity, such as a foundation or other non-profit organization, and a fill-in budget worksheet with the ability for session participants to estimate salaries, supplies, etc., to demonstrate the expected similarities and differences between the different types of funders.

Save the Date for a Summer Grant Workshop!  

OSRHE, UCO, and CGR are partnering to host a one-day Summer Grant Workshop on July 23, 2025 (flyer attached). The workshop, entitled: Pivot: Research and Grant Writing in a Changing Landscapeseeks to help participants identify and develop skills to adapt to the (sometimes daily!) changes of the current grant landscape.

   - The workshop will be hosted on the UCO campus in the Forensic Science Institute (FSI) building
   - Participation is open to CGR as well as to anyone interested in grants, so spread the word!
   - CGR membership will be listed as a registration option  

   - Both individual and institutional membership options (for up to five people) are available

Presenter Opportunity:

We have a few slots open for presenters, and would love to incorporate your voice!  

As a workshop, we are committed to providing an experience with as much hands-on practice and discussion as a daylong event can hold.  

In that vein, we are asking that anyone interested in presenting incorporate a hands-on exercise (of their choosing) as well as time for questions about the exercise and/or information presented.  

Presentation slots are one hour in length.

Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

   - AI in grantmaking/grant writing
   - Faculty training
   - Developing relationships with funders
   - Searching for alternative funding
   - Online grants management systems
   - Grants 101 type presentation
   - Developing budgets
   - Time and effort reporting
   - Data reporting
   - International agreements
   - Converting a federal application to a private application
