font-family:Arial'>There were two main reasons for the turnout. First, several
people had other issues and events. But in addition there was a problem
in communication last week. For various reasons some of the key e-mails I
sent out, including ones containing the conference number and directions, were
sent out to a mailing list that did not contain about 6 of us. I am very,
very sorry that this technical error occurred. I could have avoided it,
but didn’t notice the problem until too late. In case we have some
communication difficulty in the future, don’t hesitate to write in individually
anytime you expect a document by a certain date and don’t get it.</span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;
font-family:Arial'> </span></font></p>

font-family:Arial'>Hugh and I decided to go ahead and start the work of the Association,
hoping for greater participation down the road. We produced the attached
document between us. Hugh operated as de facto secretary and I operated
more or less as de facto chair. The document follows the outline of our
agenda. </span></font></p>

to decide how to treat the meeting that occurred and what to do from here.</span></font></p>
