Kyle, on the initial application we did require our institutions to demonstrate that they were approved for delivery of distance education, for SACS COC once an institution has been approved for one DE program then they can deliver other programs via DE so we did not require anything on renewals.

I would also reference the C-RAC guidelines, if an institution agrees to follow the C-RAC guidelines (which a SARA institution has to do, #4 on application) then I would strongly suggest that they also show that they have met the requirements (initially) to be allowed to deliver DE according to their Accrediting body.

As far as renewal goes, I would reference Item 6 on the form, if a negative change to the accreditation status has occurred then it should be reported, in this case if an institution was to loose approval for DE then this would need to be reported.

That's my simple path to understanding the process.

I hope everyone's year is off to a great start!  I want to kick 2020 off with a question for my very knowledgeable S-SARA Colleagues:

The SARA manual says that institutions must be accredited by an accreditor recognized by the USDE and whose scope of recognition, as specified by USDE, includes Distance Education.  My question is this: Does anyone require institutions to provide evidence that their accreditor has approved them to offer distance education, or do you just verify that the accreditor has that authority as specified by the USDE?
