Dear S SARA Colleagues,

I definitely missed the fellowship of seeing each of you these past two days. Albeit productive, the virtual meeting is not as festive as the in-person one.

I wish to again thank Wanda, Elisa and Terrence for their support in ensuring an effective meeting. I know Elisa is working on minutes but I wanted to offer the following re-cap, specifically around immediate next steps so that we do not lose momentum:

  *   SPE tasks:
     *   Finalize state appeals process
     * Review the NC SARA manual and send proposed revisions to Wanda. Wanda & Elisa will help coordinate a SPE call to discuss changes as a group prior to submitting to NC SARA for consideration. Be on the look-out for a meeting before the end of June.
     * Complete the survey from the Training and Development sub-committee once released
     * Send ideas to NC SARA (Marianne) for session topics during the upcoming SPE Entity Meeting
     * Review the SREB Higher Education Recovery website and send feedback, as relevant
     * Send suggestions to S SARA RSC sub-committees on training and policy topics
     *   Save the dates:
        * S SARA RSC called meeting; Topic: Proposed Changes to NC SARA Manual (Oct 2020 Board meeting)
        * NC SARA SPE Meeting Sept 15-18 (virtual)
        * S SARA RSC Meeting Oct 20-21, ATL (in person, if safe)
        * NC SARA Fall Board Meeting week of Oct 27 (TBD)

  *   RSC sub-committee tasks:
     * Training and Development (Chair, Darlene)
        * Develop an Standard Operating Procedure for processing SARA applications
        * Organize webinar: "Disclosures", "How to plan a state meeting", "Catastrophic Event policies"
     * Policy & Administration (Chair, Elizabeth)
        * Review the S-SARA Regional Steering Committee Guidelines and Procedures document and submit recommendations for updates to larger S SARA RSC membership to include whether or not RSC meetings should be open or closed and language pertaining to voting (refer back to June 2 agenda)
     *   Communications (Chair, Kyle)
        * Identify potential storage repository for shared files and documents

If I have missed anything, please add on this list. I know everyone is busy, but I truly appreciate your efforts to help moving the work of our region forward. If you are not yet working with one of the sub-committees, please pick one to support. We all know that many hands makes light work.

In service,
Angela
