[S-SARA] State Appeals Process

Hello everyone,

In the District, we do not have a separate appeals process for SARA institutions.  We treat all of the Commission's adverse decisions the same.  For specific language, please refer to Sections 8020-8027 our rules found here<https://osse.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/osse/publication/attachments/FINAL%20CLEAN%20DEGREE%20REGS%20EFF.%203.18.11.pdf>.

Quick Summary: For example, if the Commission proposes to deny an institution's application, we must provide written notice to the institution outlining the reasons for the proposed denial. The institution has the right to request a hearing.  The hearing is conducted by an independent hearing officer. The Hearing Officer presents their findings of facts and conclusions of law to the Commission. The Commission uses this to make their final decision.  If the school disagrees with the Commission's final decision they have the right to petition the District of Columbia Court of Appeals for review of the final decision.

The other regional compacts would like to know if any states are willing to share the drafts or published versions of their appeals processes. There are some state portal entities that don't know where to begin and they could use some guidance from their colleagues.
