The final of three artist presentations for the USAO Public Art Project will be on March 9, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Davis Hall Little Theater, USAO campus. Ulrich Pakker of Seattle, Washington will present his proposal for the public art sculpture to be featured in front of the USAO Nash Library. Pakker was born in Essen, Germany. He was introduced to metal work as a journeyman in Germany and began his work in the United States in early 1990s. His work can be seen in galleries and installations from Philadelphia to Maui and Santa Fe to Seattle. His work is the focal point and highlight of many public spaces including the Everett Events Center, City of Everett, Washington, University of Pennsylvania, Schattner Building, and the MacDonalds's Corporation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While his primary medium for his artwork is stainless steel, he has created works in titanium, silicon bronze, silver and gold. In his artist statement, Pakker states that, "Each work of art begins in my mind's eye as geometrical shapes, shifting and aligning themselves. Circular forms stretch and curve, bending together and apart, creating the voids or negative spaces and the curvilinear forms I see in Nature.
