Please be advised of the following message from the City of Chickasha regarding Annual Water System Maintenance.


The City of Chickasha and USW will perform the annual water system maintenance from September 21 through October 21. During this time, treated water will be disinfected with free chlorine only, rather than chloramines, to ensure the system remains free of any biofilm growth. The chlorine residual will be elevated but will remain within ODEQ requirements. This temporary, precautionary measure is performed annually to ensure we continually provide safe drinking water.



Potential Impacts:

  *   Cloudy/discolored water, minor pressure fluctuations, strong chlorine odor & taste
  *   Eye or skin irritations similar to what is experienced when swimming in pools with a high dose of chlorine
  *   Customers who use tap water for kidney dialysis at home should contact their doctor to determine if any changes are necessary in their residual disinfectant neutralization procedures
  *   Customers utilizing the water for aquariums should monitor chlorine residuals
