[USAO-Robertson] Severe Thunderstorms - Warning until 4:45/Watch Until 9

[USAO Housing]

Attention Students:

The National Weather Service has issued the following: severe Thunderstorm WARNING Until 4:45pm, and a WATCH for the area (Grady County) until 9pm.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is issued when severe thunderstorms are occurring or imminent in the warning area.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is issued when severe thunderstorms are possible in and near the watch area. It does not mean that they will occur. It only means they are possible.


USAO highly recommends that residents stay alert to the weather conditions by listening to local radio/television stations and that residents are aware of the closest severe weather shelter to their location. There are two on campus:


  *   Basement of the Student Center (Station 82),
  *   Basement of the Nash Library (Accessible)

Assistance for those with Accessibility Related Challenges
As the area is under a severe weather WARNING Those with Accessibility related issues who chose to stay at their location and are now needing assistance to the accessible USAO severe weather shelter located in the basement floor of the Nash Library (Southern Entrance), will be moved only if the weather permits.

If the Chickasha weather sirens go off: A reminder to ALL STUDENTS, according to the National Weather Service once the city of Chickasha sirens sound, it is too late to seek protection at a remote location. Everyone is encouraged to seek protection where they are immediately by going to the lowest level, most interior room of their location.

USAO highly advises that residents stay alert to the weather conditions by listening to local radio/television stations.
