[COPLAC-IR] Time Sensitive

Hi all,

As consortium coordinator I do get an overall report.  However I'm pretty sure its shortcoming will be that it only includes actual consortium participants.  It might require a special order to get the COPLAC schools who didn't opt in to the consortium, if it can be done at all.  Or else we designate one person to collect the data from all schools and compile the report like we do for the annual COPLAC report.

Attached is a copy of the report I got as Conn. State System consortium coord. last fall with the names of the schools replaced with generic CSU 1, CSU 2, etc.

Colleagues –

Vicki Warzecha of our office asked NSSE whether it would be possible for us to include ourselves in our comparison group, and they said no.

Is there someone who could legitimately make a request on behalf of all COPLAC participants to get a report showing the average for all? Otherwise we’ll all have varying reports based on different subsets of the whole.

Colleagues -

If we all exclude ourselves from our own NSSE comparison group (and that may be required by NSSE – not sure) then we will all get a different “COPLAC AVERAGE” on each item, because our groups will represent a different subset of the COPLAC schools. No one will then have the average for all COPLAC participants. Someone mentioned this at the COPLAC meeting last year, actually, though I can’t remember who it was.

Has anyone yet asked NSSE if we must exclude ourselves from our own comparison group?

Good morning Anita,

Those are the three schools that I also couldn't find in the NSSE list.  I like the consistency!  I did notice a column that seemed to have a year (2103 v. 2014), so we may be including schools who participated last year.

Good question about including our school in the comparison group.  When I run comparison between two groups, the groups are distinct, e.g. no overlap, so I would exclude ourselves to make distinct groups for the comparison statistics.  We may need to ask NSSE.

This reminds of a topic we discussed at last year's COPLAC conference/annual meeting in Shepardstown.  COPLAC has server space that we can use to share documents.  We had discussed using this space to share things, e.g. common asked policy questions.  My understanding is COPLAC or maybe Brian as NSSE coordinator receives a report from NSSE with the COPLAC consortium results.  Could we look into organizing this server space to share the NSSE reports so we can the COPLAC means that includes everyone?
