I am of the opinion that it should match the CDS, but I would like to hear others opinions.

Hi, all:

Good morning!

Can anyone help us clarify these two questions?

We would like to complete the spreadsheet ASAP.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Hui-Min

Hi, Mark:

We would like to have some clarification for the following items:

1. 1. Question 58 to 61

The four questions require us to report using the following exclusion criteria:
Degree-seeking undergraduate students only. Excludes international/ non-resident alien from the numerator and denominator

In CDS, the above criteria should only apply to Question 58 and 59, but it does not apply to Question 60 and 62. Below is the CDS question F1 for information. Can you clarify if we should report based on CDS or the criteria listed in the spreadsheet?

Percent who are from out of state (exclude international/nonresident aliens from the numerator and denominator)

Percent of men who join fraternities

Percent of women who join sororities

Percent who live in college-owned, -operated, or -affiliated housing

Percent who live off campus or commute

Percent of students age 25 and older

Average age of full-time students

Average age of all students (full- and part-time)

2. Question 63 asks for FTE undergraduate students for student faculty ratio calculation sheet.

This is the first year that New College has its first master graduate program. It is a small program. The direction in CDS for reporting student to faculty ratio asks institutions to exclude “faculty and students in stand-alone graduate or professional programs such as medicine, law, veterinary, dentistry, social work, business, or public health in which faculty teach virtually only graduate level students.”
Our master graduate program is not a stand-alone graduate or profession al program specified in the CDS direction. Faculty in the graduate program also teach undergraduate students and some graduate students take high level undergraduate courses, so we include the graduate students and faculty from the graduate program in the faculty student ratio reporting. We wonder if we misinterpret the CDS direction, as Question 63 asks us to report the student counts from student-faculty ratio calculation sheet, but the element name is FTE undergraduate students . Our number would include graduate students. Can you help clarify this data element?

Thank you for your help! Have a great weekend!

I missed rolling over a couple of time frames on the codebook. Also, I am sending this too the new google group and the old COPLAC-IR site to try and get everyone. Please join the new google group.

Dear COPLAC Institutional Research Colleagues,

Please submit all of the requested data that you will provide in a single sitting, as the Google form in unable to allow you to log out and back in to complete it. It will not allow you to go back in multiple times. It is essentially set up like a survey. As a result of that, I encourage you to fill out the information in the Excel spreadsheet then enter the information into the Google form.

Please submit the COPLAC data profile data by May 1st. Here is the link for the form: https://goo.gl/forms/LOzNMSfxwGxx7rmA2

Below is the tentative schedule of the process.

COPLAC Data Profile Calendar 2016-17

April 12th- IPEDS Spring Collection Closes

May 1 - COPLAC Data Profile is due from institutions

May 20th - Send draft profile to institutions (will be sent earlier if possible)

May 27nd (or one week after the draft is sent out, whichever is earlier.) - Institutions review draft and provide updates or confirmation of valid data.

June 15- Final Draft sent to Bill Spellman

June 22-24 - feedback on process and metrics at COPLAC Annual Conference

If you have any question, feel free to contact me.
