[Counselors] Question re: selected for testing

I also found out we were not testing Geography when I opened the CTB sessions. We did get an email that we were "chosen" to take the Measured Progress Writing for 7th grade and Reading for 8th grade. My question, when is the best time to tell students that have been working with the Geography mind set,  well, you are going to be taking a writing test instead?
