At Rattan, we do allow seniors to only enroll in 6 hours with 1st or 7th
hours off - IF they are in good standing meeting graduation/credit/EOI
requirements.

We have 8 period days and our seniors are allowed to have early release or
late arrival. We do nothing in SIS we just show that they do not come until
2nd period or do not have a last hour. This year we have an online program
(Odyssey Ware) for some of our electives and to me that would lend itself to
students going home another hour if they are enrolled in an online class,
but I'm not sure if that is right or not.

Subject: Question

We have always had seven class periods for every grade level a the high
school. It is district policy that all students be enrolled in seven class
periods. However, it has recently come to our attention that the state only
requires six rigorous class periods. We are considering a policy that
allows our seniors to take only six class periods if they can still meet our
4 X 4 requirements as well as graduation requirements.

This has cause several logistic questions to arise. I would like to have
some feedback about what other schools are doing and how do they represent
that on their SIS to meet WAVE requirements: are students only enrolled in
six classes or are they enrolled in something for a seventh hour but not on
the campus?

Can you help me?

Mia
