We so highly encourage seeing a specialist if you are to the point where the suicidal thoughts have a plan. However, we give parents several free options. Since we can't force a parent to take them, our policy does state if they don't, we call DHS. This is just if they have a plan, not just thoughs

I am concerned that a school may be setting itself up for liability (cost wise) by stating the parent needs to seek treatment and get a release.
Furthermore, as I'm sure you will, run the forms by the principal. They should be signed off on.
